Oil Pressure Switch and Handbrake shoes.

Post by simrs » Sat Nov 19, 2011 5:53 pm

Hi all,

Just finished changing the oil pressure swith which was leaking quite a lot of oil through its plastic part. It is actually possible to change with a socket set and thin arms - (cost 13 euros from Audi)!! Didn't have to take anything else apart except the dipstick tube. Now working fine and no more leaks. :D
I also changed the handbrake shoes. I found a price on a good Audi Ebay specialist in Germany (140 euros), but finally bought them at Design 911. They are exactly the same as most Porsche models and cost £29.95!! The handbrake nearly works properly now, just needs adjustment and maybe the cable changing - do they stretch much? Anyone had any problems with cable stretch :?:

Thanks I'll take a look. I've actually adjusted them and they're pretty good now. The handbrake holds on all but the steepest of slopes. I'll see how long that lasts. In fact the adjustment is easy enough if you know where to line up the hole in the disc housing. I have found that you need the pads just touching the inner of the disks when the handbrake is off.

I do worry about the handbrake though as I lost a fantastic Polar Silver RS2 down a mountainside due to my dearest not pulling the handbrake on tight enough and not leaving it in gear!!!!
