The suspension on my RS2 has always been quite crashy compared ot others I have driven but it's got a lot worse recently.

My car has covered 118k miles and so I'm guessing that it still has the original suspension and bushes.

My thoughts are an upgrade to decent dampers and renew suspension bushes.

Does anyone have any experience on any aftermarket options or should I just go for factory?

I just want the car to ride better but obvioulsy don't want ot lose any handling capabilities although at Castle Combe at the Audi International day it didn't handle that well on the circuit anyway! Too heavy compared to my ur quattro

I recommend you fit poly bushes all round. They will last (and last) and tighten up the handling.
They're also much easier and quicker to fit vs. OEM bushes.

It's also likely you need a new set of dampers all round, if they've not been changed.

Do the poly bushes allow more noise into the cabin though?

Are there any better damper options other than OEM?

Yes, there will be a very minor amount of additional transmitted vibration, not noise into the cabin.
If you're staying OEM on dampers and springs, I dare say you may not even notice.
Either way the improvement in handling is well worth it.
The other 'Must have' is buy and fit a set of Mance's Pro-Mounts top mounts. The OEM ones last a very short time, sometimes as little as 3000 miles.
If it's a regular road car, I would stick with OEM dampers and springs, just renew them. If you're going to do a lot of track days and would be prepared for a firmer ride on the road, RS2 H&R and Bilstein Sport dampers would be my suggestion. Others, just fit koni dampers...

Try to get a ride in various car setup's to see what you like. Bushes and Top mounts are a must do job either way! HTH

Agree with that. I went through the suspension overhaul options earlier this year, and Lloyd gave some excellent advice and tips (thanks again!). Given the originality of my car, and that I won't be doing trackdays in this car, I stuck with OEM all round - replaced everything I could at the time. I also fitted new tyres - PS3s. The difference was huge - ride, turn-in, less understeer, lower road noise. I wrote a fair bit about it in about April

Third best handling improvement after poly bushes and Mance Pro-Mounts is fitting a Neuspeed Rear Anti-Roll Bar.
This will reduce body roll and more importantly seriously reduce the standard RS2's tendency to under-steer.
You will not be disappointed with this mod, even if you stick with OEM springs and dampers.
