As part of the refurb on my car being done by the excellent Tom Cockings down in Yeovil (brakes, suspension), I now need to replace the turbo-intercooler hose. The part price from Audi is £280+VAT for the one hose, so at Tom's suggestion I have been looking into replacement sets. Here's what I have found out:
1. S2 forum is a good start point
2. Sets are available - bit they need to be made up. They are done by either Samco or Roose Motorsports
3. Samco you order via a guy called Paul on S2 forum (username s2central.net). They cost £215, and he orders them as a group purchase, sometimes every couple of months, sometimes longer. From his order to Samco, they are 6 weeks delivery. Not great when you need one, but good (and cheap) if you're plannig ahead. If your RS2 has more than 80k miles, and they haven't been replaced at some point, worth considering.
4. Roose Motorsports make them up in 48hrs from purchase for £260 http://www.roosemotorsport.co.uk/produc ... thpkfc3m43
Good option in my situation (and what I have done)
5. If you need one hose in a hurry, go to S2 forum and post a request - there are guys on there who have sets or individual hoses they will either send or, which is great, lend to you. If mine went when the car was at home, I might have done this, replaced it myself and then ordered a new set from Samco - and saved £50 or so.
6. Given you have to take off the front bumper to replace most of the hoses, and that is where most of the time/labour is, it makes sense to replace the whole set if one goes, particularly given the difficulties getting hold of single hoses.
Hope that's of use. I'll also post up my experience with brake/suspension refurb in case that has useful pointers for people
