All

I've taken a look through my service history and found that my 146k mile RS2 appears to never have had new shocks fitted. Having replaced these on another car of mine a while back it made a massive difference to the feel and handling and I'm kinda considering going down the route of getting thes shocks and bushes replaced.

So, having done a bit of reading it seems the options are:

OEM (Boge)
Front: 8A0413503J @£89 each (+VAT)
Rear: 8A0513029AF @107 each (+VAT)

Koni Adjustable
No part numbers/prices yet (can anyone help?)

Bilstein Sport
Front: PE3-3086
Rear: BE3-6212
Although the rear shocks for these require some modification?

Can anyone add any new news/experience on this topic and/or provide details on how many bushes are required to refresh this set up?? I noticed Vas made some comments on this a while ago - any updates?

Ta

Hi
I was thinking the same! Mine's done 238000kms and no trace of new shocks. Can they last that long?

BTDT went with Koni Sports for front and tried to fit Koni sports on rear.
Front was fine but rear would not fit due to struts being too short.
All suspension arms and bushes were renewed because the bushes are so difficult to remove.
Car then felt like new to drive and it did make a big difference.
If I was to do it again I would stick wit OEM - there is also a post on here from AlaistairG which comes to the same conclusion.

I've just taken a quick trawl through the last couple of years and found these 2 so far:

http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=66976

http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... suspension

Looks like Bilstein are very good but the rears need to be modified by someone ina machine shop

Scilly, thanks for the post, I'll continue searching for AlastairG's article too

The OEM shocks are more than capable I find and are a nice ride on long journeys (thats what mine does mostly now).
Good luck

OEM are good but they last a very small amount of time. I had them on mine and they managed to barely do 30K kms. On Bilsteins for the last 60K kms and still going strong!

Yes the Bilstein option is a good one. I have been running them with RS2 H&R springs and find it a very nice and comfortable setup. A bit more care required when passing over speed bumps but worth it for the feel.
