Blue plug under the throttle body

Yesterday I had the idle valve and throttle body cleaned out which has, thankfully, solved the problem of the car cutting out everytime I came to a standstill (extremely annoying  )

Whilst working on the car the mechanic noticed that a blue plug that "sits below the throttle body" (I didn't see the part he was referring to) was unplugged. He has therefore plugged this back in.

Anyone know what this is and what it does? The car is running far smoother now but have yet to be able to stretch its legs as the journey home was in traffic.

Just thought this worthy of a mention to anyone who may have noticed lower than expected fuel economy on their RS2.

Since the idle valve & throttle body were cleaned out I've got 23.8mpg......compared to 19.4mpg beforehand....same driving mix too....heavy right foot on motorways with some technical country roads thrown in to the equation. The 23.8mpg was measured over a 700 mile stint over the last 10 days

This may not be the same for everyone but this is a quick and simple job that is well worth considering
