McLaren F1 sells for £2.5 million

So, you just paid £2.5 million at auction for a McLaren F1 and an RS2 can still beat you away from the lights. :D

Sorry, no comparison in my mind the McLaren is in a different leaque to every other car made before and since but then I am very biased towards it. Working on the project for over 5 yrs was my very first job (aahh the memories, now back to designing my bracket).

If the RS2 can be mentioned in the same conversation as the F1 then it too is punching above it's weight and could quite rightly be refered to as a 'giant killer' of a car.

MarineBoy - The F1 is indeed the pinnacle and my personal favourite uber car, no question there. (Zonda R comes a very close second)

I think what DC above is referring to is the Autocar test of the day. They found that the RS2 was faster than the F1 to 30 mph. Grip pure and simple. Most likely there are now many cars than could beat the RS2 to 30mph. However, in 1994 the RS2 was the quickest they had tested - even beating a Formula 1 car of the day to 30. Good pub trivia, but not much good in the real world!

Here, here on the Zonda, their factory is only just down the road and I have heard they are very keen to show people around. I keep meaning to try and arrange a look but work keeps getting in the way (the way the economy is I guess I have to count my blessings).

For me the RS2 is one of the few cars I must have before I die and have pretty much convinced myself we can live with one as our only means of family transport. If I can't find a good one in the next couple of months then I will buy a bog standard A4,A6, BM 3 Series or 5 Series and wait until I am back in Blighty and buy an unmolested Volcano Black one with Black leather interior to be used for weekend tom foolery!
