RS2 advice (for a car thats been sitting for a year)

An opportunity should be coming along for me to purchase an RS2.
The company that owns the car has gone into liquidation and from what I understand the car hasnt been driven for about a year (it hasnt be registered for the road for a year).

If the engine, gearbox are fine what else should I be looking for and what parts could need replacing?
What should I be budgeting for in its next service? The car has done 180,000kms.

If I put mine away wet, by the next morning the brakes have stuck. They free up - audibly - when the car moves but if yours has stood for a year be careful. Don't let the breakdown guy in there with tyre levers and big screwdrivers talking about easing the pads back; RS2 brakes are hideously expensive. If they are stuck try and get it lifted to a specialist.

The air con will almost certainly need recharging.

Other lads will be on in a minute to add their advice, but my view is most of the RS2 was built by the same people who did Stonehenge and it should be a viable proposition. So get a quote for a full service with all the fluids replaced. Can't help with NZ prices as in Blighty we just get used to paying ten times as much as everyone else.

I kind of know what Im getting myself in for. My father owned an RS2 8 years ago for 2 years.
Im hoping this car will work out, Ive been after one for years.

these cars dont like to be stationary and not operated for a long periods of time.Although nothing serious could be wrong with it,be ready for:

brake pads,
radiator(water not moving in that gets stuck permanently)
cambelt+belts in general
check all hoses for leaks and tears.Give them a good clean and spray silicone on them to start getting them soft again
handbrake cables will probably be shot
check for rust in all usual places
check for electrical faults like windows,mirrors,etc.All these might just need a good WD-40 treatment but for the windows it means you need to take the interio panels apart..

I would want the RS2 for a serious knock down price if its been standing still for that time, like they should be giving it away, whatever your thinking will need replacing I can be pretty sure there will be a another list of things which you haven't thought about, my guess is you'll end up the equivalent of around £3000 lighter to be ship shape. Good luck, I think you'll need it!

The car seems to go ok, idles smooth, I just have to re-vin it to get it back on the road so I can see what it really goes like.
It has a Superchip in it, dont know if I like that . . .
Apart from hoses etc what is the most important parts to service? Spark plugs, leads etc?

if it has been sitting for a while i would change the spark plugs,rubber ignition coils,clean the throttle body valve,and idle stabilization valve,check the PCV system and replace the pressure regulating valve there,along of course with the oil change and oilf filter and fuel filter as well.
On idle the oil pressure should be no less than 1.5bar(oil to use should be 10W50 or 10W60).Also check the last time the cam belt was replaced as it should be done every 60000Kms or so.
