what recirculating dump valve is to be fitted to an rs2

Post by dsbonney » Sun Jul 27, 2008 5:24 pm

i have fitted two jubilee clips to all high pressure hoses and have come to the conclusion that the baileys dv 30 is not the correct valve to fit.
could this be why it feels like im loosing boost with a lot of noise.
has anyone got any idea which is the correct one to fit

The plastic recirculating one is the OEM one (dirt cheap from VAG Parts) but prone to poor performance as it gets distorted by heat over time. There are loads of different types available aftermarket, mine has the Milltek billet unit but everyone will have a different opinion. you can get hybrid ones (hyperboost I think - good price from Demon Tweeks) which recirculate at small to medium throttle openings so they are user friendly in town, but dump to atmosphere during full chat changes - with a group B style whooooosh.

I should have added that they do a boost check for £45 + VAT. It's more than that when they've put everything straight, of course.

The standard diverter valve from the S3 that MRC fitted to my RS2 works brilliantly but is not for you if you like sound effects.

Where the car made a satisfying Pssssht! on gearchanges, the new one is discretion itself and makes no comment at all.

Erm, just use the OEM one it works just the same as any fancy billet one several times the price. Then aim to replace it every two years or so.

i use the blue spring only. Its the one that came in along when i bought it.I had the old model which leaked due to bad construction design. In that one i had used the blue + 2 washers.

I now use the the blue spring only, and boost up to 2.0bar without problems
