Hello gang.
Been a member for a while but never posted.
Living in Jersey dont get much chance to fully explore the potential of the car.
Got a bog standard UK 1995 RS2 in Dark green, full black leather & airbag with manual AC.
I purchased the car 8 years ago and has been faultless apart from the usuall RS2 maintenance issues.
The car was previously owned by friends who I worked with so know the history of the car from new - which is nice.
Recently the car has develpoed a hesitation just before boost starts to come in.
Full boost can be achieved once through the flat spot.
Changed the MAF and having an O2 sensor swapped soon.
Got a TTS coming down at the end of the month, but wont be getting rid of the RS2.

Welcome Paul, Cant amagine you getting out of second gear living In Jersey!!! Cant give you any advise on the running fault (i ant no mechanic) but im sure someone will on here:) Get some pics up too.

It sounds like leaky plumbing, Paul.

In the continuing story of my car's poor running I had MRC have a look at it yesterday and they found a leak downstream of the turbocharger. I'll write it up this afternoon in "Now what?..." my saga of the trials, tribulations and - with any luck - eventual triumph.

Be interested to hear the results on that one DickyC.

Once this engine issue is resolved I am intending to spend a few quid on bodywork and wheel refurb.
By the way the car has done 65,000 miles.
Taking to a VAG specialist now instead of main dealer and the guy who PDI'd it in 1995 owns the garage.
He PDI'd all the RS2's aprt from 1 on the island.
Aparently there are about 8 original imported ones over here.
There are two other green ones with identical spec suprisingly.

BOOST LEAK Mine was first registered in Jersey. Did 15k in its first 4 years !

Must have more RS2's per head than anywhere in the world.
Thanks for the advise - replaced the Diverter Valve as the old one started "chirrping" and all boost was virtually gone.
Replaced with a Forge unit ( DV007 )
I also replaced the braided, small pipe ( connects to the DV ), near the front of the car as you open the bonnet, which had become very brittle and finally broke.
This fault seems to have been around/got more noticable since then.
I am not sure if a pressure check has been done.
Do you have the name of the 1st Jersey owner - it's mad but I may know them. Was the surname Horsfall?

Do you ever bring the RS2 over to Blighty, Paul? MRC's health check, where they pressurise the turbo plumbing amongst other things, is £45 + VAT.

It will cost more than that, of course, because they will definitely find something to fix! It is well worth it, as I have just discovered.

They are at Banbury which is on the way to Silverstone. The drive from Banbury to Silverstone along the B4525 is RS2 country and it's probably worth bringing the car over just for that. On the way you could try the B4494 from Newbury to Wantage, of course. Oh, and don't forget the..

Try to get off the rock whenever I can.
Mostly to France though where the roads are awesome.
No traffic, road works, well maintained allthough everyone sticks to the 110KMH limit.
Anyway, will try and get the local VAG garage to pressurise the system.
If I am over in the UK next time I will arrange a visit for definite.

Yes it was Horsfall. Small world, yours that is

Tell us that the Jersey Horsfalls are related to Jock Horsfall, gentleman racing driver, who won the 1946 Belgian Grand Prix in the 2 litre Aston "the Black Car" and was killed at Silverstone in 1949 when he crashed the ERA "Remus" but during the war had been a driver for MI5 and took the body of The Man Who Never Was in Operation Mincemeat to a submarine base in Scotland in a hotted up van.

When I saw the colour of yours, thought it was his.
Mr Pierre Horsfall was a very senior Politician a few years ago.
He was interviewed in the local paper ( Jersey Evening Post ) about his hobbies etc now he has retired. He mentioned his love of cars, mainly Porsche, but his favourite was his RS2. I sometimes pass him driving around, and I think he always makes the point of looking at mine.
Not sure if he was related to the racing driver, but he was part of the original Concorde design team.

Obviously I meant I recognised AlistairG 's RS2 colour.
