Advice: Accumulater/power steering pump fitted...vibration

Hi,

I've just had a reconditioned power steering pump and a brand new accumulater fitted but I am now getting a small vibration through the peddles and a little through the steering wheel. It's very subtle but nonetheless not right given that it wasnt there before. It seems to increase with acceleration and reduce when at a constant speed.

Has anyone any advice or experience with this? As a bit of background my car has new tyres, the tracking is true, the engine is smooth. It's a different sort of vibration. It feels like there is something not happy within the powered system - brakes/steering...

Any help advice really appreciated.

Thanks

Worth switching front & back tyres. Do not leugh as I have had similar until I switched from P zero nero to Eagle F1 asym. I cannot see how the pump or accumulator would cause this.

Hi, as per my post the tyres, tracking, balancing all new and running as smooth as anything. Had the car back for only a day and then the power steering pump started leaking which was linked to the accumulator. Thats when the vibration issue started. I am getting it at stand still when for example engaging the clutch or pressing the accelerator pedal. It has a sort of metallic'y feel to it not a thud thud thud.

Anyone out there experienced this?

Picked up the car yesterday as per my post above. Driving the car today the vibrations continued and then some new whining noises started. Then the new power steering pump went. Including the original that's three pumps in less than 200 miles. I can't seem to post onto the s2forum although I am registered...any tips for this too?! Cheers, Simon

We've discovered sludge in the pipework which we think has caused pressure to develop in the system, causing the vibration and then the pressure building up to a point where the power steering pump blows its seal. Anyone else experienced this? Cheers, Simon

Hi there, to conclude on the above the PS pump from GSF has been returned as a warranty claim and the new pump from Quattro Corner is working really well. The vibration I noted earlier through the peddles/steering wheel (a sort of tuning fork vibration) was found to be from the heat shield next to the brake accumulator which was found to be touching the exhaust manifold. (I think I have stated this correctly!).

Thanks for your help again.

Simon
