Worth getting the car sorted re rich running before a remap. Check for a boost leak. They all run rich on the stock map. What mpg are you getting ?

I would only allow MRC in Banbury remap an RS2. Nice benefit is the timing advance that leans out the fuel map.

Alastair....seeing as though the original author didn't reply thought I'd hijack this thread.....mine's returning 20-21mpg but that is pretty much all A road/motorway driving (have a Lupo GTi around town).

Someone mentioned to me that remaps were a good option, would you say mine was a standard set up with those MPG readings?

A-road and motorway for me gives 26 to 27 mpg. Tend to 'enjoy' the A-road but stick to 70 on the motorways. Local 'cold' running commute for 7 miles I get an average 23 mpg. Maybe I treat it too gently!!

Hi
I've just calculated from litres to gallons and I get around 23 to the gallon all round. I drive in the Alps around 12 kms to and from work, often on snow for most of the Winter, then a few long runs in the Summer. On a long motorway run staying at 130 kms/hr it returns 25mpg. The car has done 234000kms but the vast majority on the motorway by its previous owner. It's not been modified whatsoever apart from big reds on the front.

But, of course you can't get silly on the snow so it's steady driving!!

Looks too low for standard map - you should get more than this on A roads/Motorway around 24/25 in my experience.

I get about 22 around town / Cornish lanes and 26/27 driving like a sensible person on motorways (doesn't happen much). Mines completely standard with 155k and rolling road 311 bhp and 448 nm torque (god knows where that came from).
Cheers

Yep really too low for A roads & motorway UNLESS a lot of stoppping due to traffic density. Lots of things to consider. Look back at my previous fuel consumption threads.
Lamda sensor fuel filter spark plugs etc etc

BTW the RS2 replacement only manages 35mpg in the same situation :)

Alastair...can you possibly send a link as a bit pushed today and don't have time to trawl through the history.

Had spark plugs changed 7k ago when I bought her....
