Steering Wheel removal?????

Hi Guys,

I need to get to the dash bulbs tonight,to replace a couple.......not sure in the correct method of removing the s/wheel????? It has an air bag and i can see a couple of fixing screws on the back of the wheel....do i need to undo those before i go any futher????? Many thanks James

Yes, the 2 torx screws should hold the airbag and horn module on. Might be worth disconnecting the battery first just to make sure nothing can set the bag off if you short any contacts?

There's no need to take out the steering wheel to take the cokpit out
You have to undo two small screws that are holding the plastic cover between wheel and dash.
You can feel the two holes on the left and right of the lower plastic cover just behind the wheel (small philips screwdriver)
Then you take out the upper cover
And now you can see the two screw on the center bottom of the dash that are holdin it
The dash will slide out on the side once you disconnect the plugs
Four of them Blu Yellow Black (BC) White (AC)

P.S.
If you take off S/wheel and Airbag be sure to NOT turning the ignition key on while you have the Airbag disconnected!
Otherwise you'll end up with Airbag light on and a visit to Audi Garage to switch it off......

Thanks Guys....all done.managed without taking the wheel off.Northing worse than a half lit dash panel! just one more to replace...oil pressure gauge.
