Cooling Fan

Feeling a trifle foolish for asking, but which way should the radiator cooling fan work? Mine blows forward. I know the RS2 has some quirks, is that one of them? I had a Coupe Quattro for years and don't remember it being that way. Is it just wired back to front?

In traffic on the first wet day in my ownership, the front of the car was steaming steadily to the consternation of on-lookers. Not to mention me.

On investigation, instead of the fan drawing air from the front of the car through the rad as I was brought up to expect I found air from the engine compartment is pushed forward through the radiator. It doesn't lose coolant, but in wet weather, particularly in traffic, I'm driving a Stanley Steamer.

The car is alive and well and living in Berkshire.

Thanks.

Mine does the same, i have never really thought about it before but your wright, it does seem strange to be blowing warm air from the engine!

Thanks, chaps. As I said I was feeling a bit foolish for asking, but in the old days - that is, a bit after the trailing spike to stop you rolling back down hills if you didn't make it - when fans were permanently coupled to the engine, air was pulled through tha radiator into the engine bay. It's the way I was brought up, so I had to ask.

Thanks again,
