Swapping front seats

Hi.
My grey alcantara/black leather driver's seat is just starting to look a little worn (100k+) and I had a cursory look at swapping it with the almost-unused passenger's one. However, the plastic 'fences' on the lower sides (dont care about electric adjust buttons) seem immovable. Any ideas? Anyone with similar seats in a LHD car (in UK) wish to swap?
