I have owned my Brilliant Black RS2 for nearly two months now and thought that it was quick compared to my S2 coupe but it never really felt like the car was running at its best.

I knew things were wrong when I nearly got hammered by a 56reg Focus ST at a set of traffic lights. I don't always race my car and sometimes drive like an old man but I had heard good things about the Focus ST.

Over the weekend I have spent a few nights reading the old threads on here and came across one that said if you want the best out of your car then change the old parts that might be causing the car not to run properly to new ones. So at the weekend I took the new WGTF and S3 dump valve which I had purchased recently for my S2 and changed them for the ones on the RS2. I then cleaned the MAF and also the idle stabilisation valve and cleaned the engine at the same time. The jubilee clips on all the parts were a nightmare to take off as they were all rusted so I would say that the parts had not been changed for a number of years if not since new.

I took the car out the next day and it is like a brand new car. It boosts and boosts and boosts. It is unbelievable how fast it is now. The turbo lag has disappeared a bit and I seem to be riding a wave of torque all the time.

Due to the cold frosty weather I have not been able to totally accelerate for fear of putting the car in a ditch but the way it feels in all the gears now is just brilliant.

If anyone has a poor running RS2 I would definately recommend changing the parts on the car to newer ones as I was thinking of getting a remap but now I will just enjoy the power.

Incredible what a bit of dusting can do for your car.
Get the Dyson out, should be good for a few more horses.

Could not agree more.............get the spark plugs done next if not changed for a couple of years

Agreed, I changed the plugs on mine and the difference was unbelievable. The old one's didn't look obviously worn but good God there was a difference in acceleration.

Which ones would you recommend?

Also whilst I am changing all the other parts is there anything else to make her run a bit better and make her like new?

I have read on the threads that I should change the lambda probe.

If there is not a difference at least I will know that they have been changed and it knocks something else off my list.

nice looking car you have there, i have always had a soft spot for the RS2 and if finances would have allowed there was a CERTAIN silver one on here that was for sale that was a REAL credit to its owner..

my opinion is not to wait until everything is rusted to change it!keep an eye also for boost leaks and other stuff that can cause a reduction of boost.A boost gauge is a good friend for these things.It can alert you that you are not using the car's full potential and that there is a problem.keep up the good work!

I have a black RHD one the same as you have, but I really like your wheels, what are they, what size of tires do you have, will you sell them (only kidding) I would like to know where I can get a set, very nice car by the way

I have std wheels the others look wide compared to mine and not split rim's, I looked in Design911 did'nt see any

Off topic a bit but I love the way these Black RS2's look. I wanted one myself but had to settle for RS Blue.

I have the same wheels on mine, the originals need shoving up someones harse! 7" wide on a car like these!!! bobins.

Mine and Maks are 8.5 18 et 52 His looks like its on 225 40 18 tyres as mines on 245 35 18. And they don't make these wheels anymore. Whach the bay,,, they are not cheap!!!!!

Thanks for all the nice comments about the car. I am back up to Fort William in a few weeks so should be able to get some better pictures with nicer scenery.

vasaudigreece - Thanks for the advice on the boost leaks. I have thought about the boost gauge as one of my mates (Jas11n) has one on his S2 and I like the look of it and he says it is pretty useful to have.

dave993cars / robo - As mentioned by rob20vurq the wheels are 8.5 x 18" MTM wheels

rob20vurq - I am running 245 35's and I find no problems with running them. Do you have any pictures of your car as I find that the wheels at the back stick out a bit. Do yours do the same?
