RS2 in Evo this month, with rs246 mention

Post by DuncS3 » Sat Jan 06, 2007 12:20 pm

I think its JeremyCs RS2? They have a 'Heroes for 10k' feature. I was wondering if it would be a value increasing write up but really they don't write too much about it in the group test and they also dont seem to speak too highly about it either.

Good to see a rs246 link under the owners comments though!

Is that the 100th issue? Any chance of scanning it and posting it if not?

Yes it was my car, and great fun it was doing the photo shoot and feature on Exmoor. :D

As to the comments in the article they are probably all justified, but most of the journos seemed to enjoy driving the car more than came across.

It is also a bizarre group test to try and pick a 'winner' from since all of them are so different - the final decision would depend very much on how you wanted to use the car.

If you get a chance to go on an Evo shoot I can recommend it.

Where did you get 101 from? isnt this due out February? I see you've got the subscription copy.

I saw the request for an RS2 on Pistonheads, well done Jeremy!

Yes, but to be fair it was a group test of seven cars so there wasn't as much scope to say more as per the C&SC feature.

It is quite possible that my car is on original dampers - I certainly haven't changed them in 4 years/27K miles. It is one of the things I'll be looking at this year ....

I too wasn't overly happy with the write up in Evo, very brief and quite dissapointing really. How can you say the RS2 is 'horribly dull'?? I think if you look at the bigger picture, in terms of reliability, build quality, value for money, the only other contender would be the BMW, and thats only because its German.

Cheers

Strange how times change. I still have the Performance car 'first view' where John Baker (now with Evo) waxed lyrical about its performance in sub zero Austria. He then immediately proposed it as his car of the year nomination. The legendary road test with his 0-60 @ 4.8s came later that year.
No Audi since the Ur got so much postive press and none since until the B7 RS4.

Some good points there mate.

Should write in and see what they say in the letters section.

Yeah, send a letter - they wrote plenty about the Clio - RS2 got the least words and a big of a dismissive report really.
