Alloy wheel nuts

Just been to a specialist for new tyres fitted.
Tyre fitter spotted cracks around top of alloy nuts.
He explained to me that the nuts had been tightened with an air gun, pushing the studs into the end of the nuts.
The moral of the story is stay away from air guns, and use torque wrench only.
