Please help!!!

I have an RS2 which badly needs brakes in time for Le Mans in 1 week! Can anyone please tell me what discs I need some one said they are uprated but not sure. The are drilled and vented and have porsche calipers not Mov it. I am being quoted £1,500 inc vat fitted which seems silly. PLEASE HELP!!!!

you need to check diameter.They could still be original RS2 and vented meaning 304mm.If they are uprated they should be 322x32 drilled front and 299 back.

a cood choice is the bay.There are original 322 drilled there for 460euro a set of front discs and 130euro textar pads front as well.

Check the forum posts re porsche brake alternatives. There is a list of porsche brake parts that fit the RS2 brakes usually at lower prices than Audi.
If you are really needing to replace calipers as well (not unusual BTDT) the look up vagparts and get the 'Big red upgrade'. This was an OEM option and for ~£1500 you get new front calipers all 4 discs and pads !

If you just need front discs then £1500 is taking the p*ss

Why bother using the older caliper? When you can upgrade to the latest Porsche monoblock GT3 4 pot caliper.

£746 for all the parts required, you just need to add the caliper's. Which can be sourced as an extra cost.

Thanks guys but am on a budget!! Would love to do a GT3 upgrade but finances just won't allow at the moment, not to mention going to Le Mans on Thursday so time is a factor too! Anyone else taking their RS2 to La Sarthe?

Are they direct fit on the RS2 brackets ?
What is the real total cost i.e. caliper costs
I have Textar pads as they came with the kit however never again, poor feel, loads of dust. The DS2500 were much better despite the cost difference.
BTW I would have gone with monoblocks but the hassle of sourcing put me off !

Interesting one of my complaints about the upgraded brake kit is lack of feel and loads of brake dust - so changing to DS2500 would resolve this?

The feel after my Big Red upgrade was a little disapointing, although they definatley stop the car better than the standards and I got a bit more travel in the pedal as well, even with a new bomb.

I get a fair amount of dust off the DS2500's, I would call it excessive but I have nothing to compare it to. (apart from the rears which have textars in them and they aren't nearly as dusty, but I know that isn't a fair comparison).

@Alaster - Corey makes up the brackets for the GT3 calipers. You can see them in the photo's in Corey's link.

No they are not a direct fit, it requires custom brackets.
The caliper's add £475 (these are a used price although new can be sourced if you prefer) to the price of the parts so £1221 for the complete kit.
The kit also includes Goodridge's top spec 6 line brake hose kit custom made for the conversion and DOT5.1 fluid and fitting costs also are included

Interesting point about the Textar pads, it is all I use as they have loads of feel and plenty of modulation, it all depends how you bed them in.

Why are the monoblocks a hassle to source? You just aren't looking in the right place

Oh and they all fit behind the stand RS2 cup wheels also

Had them on the standard front calipers. Excellent with little dust !

i will be changing to textar pads all around(using pagid now) due to lots of noise coming from the brakes.I have reneued the silencing kits,from vagparts,but still do it.I think textars are the middle option that have no noises coming from the brakes,which is what a prefer

Just like to add, even though my RS2 doesn't exist anymore (another story!), the brake conversion Corey has referenced from S2forum was the best thing I did on the car.

The difference between the standard setup and the GT3/965 setup was stark. Corey did a great job of flushing/bleeding the brakes and the confidence I had even in the first 100 miles said it all.

I found the textars were low in dust, but squeeled a bit, but that was prolly down to my lack of bedding in skills.

All in all though, best mod I did to the car.....and they looked good too.

I found the calipers locally on a Porsche forum, but ebay.de is popular......if not, get Corey to source them for you......I guarantee if you're upgrading from standard RS2 brakes, you will not be disappointed with this setup.

I had tested them several times, ie 145 - 30 with total confidence and minimal fuss.

Bottom line was that I was happy!
