cracked turbo manifold replacement

My replacement turbo manifold has finally arrived after a 6 month wait for the German marnufacturer to produce the part. It was cracked, and although some correspondents on this discussion forum suggested that they came cracked
, I took the (more expensive
) route of caution to replace - in the meantime I had it welded by a specialist.
My question now stems from the fact that my mechanic mentioned last time that it was a nightmare to replace as he had to almost remove the engine to get at it. At the time I remember that someone here mentioned that there was an easy way to do it, but I can't find the thread. If anyone recognises where my mechanic is going wrong, can they let me know?
Thanks
