Hi there. I'm now the proud owner of a RS Blue RS2 - what a fantastic driving experience! I told the wife that if I can keep it, it will prolong the liklehood of our marriage surviving by 1000%... she laughed eventually...

A couple of things - Value - to help anyone thinking about buying / selling coming to an accurate value - I bought it for £18,000 - late 1994, FSH, 58k miles. Unless this information is published, everyone's guessing.

History - I managed to get hold of the first owner who thought it was the first one shipped (due to an order cock-up Audi gave him one that was earmarked for Marketing.) He also said it won some sort of race down at Brighton in Oct 1994 - best unmodified category. Who / how would I verify any of this?

Finally, he is also a helicopter pilot and likened the experience of flying a helicopter with driving an RS2; which I thought was about as good a compliment as it gets!

The Brighton connection could be the Brighton Speed Trials event.

Did he mean that particular car or just that an RS2 had won?

I have an article in an old Top Gear mag at home of Anthony ffrench-Constant taking an RS2 down to Brighton. I didnt think he won but maybe I am mistaken. I will check for you when I get home and tell you the date of the magazine as you may be able to pick up a copy from eBay (thats where I got mine!)

OK...

Top Gear Magazine
Number 14
November 1994

Trip to the Brighton Speed Trials in an RS2

Car used RS Blue RS2 reg M120 MJB
Came second in its class (the Handicap Class)

But driver Anthony ffrench-Constant admits he didnt get the best out of the car and it could do better.

Hope this helps,
David
