I'm going in for a service tomorrow (taking it to a performance car specialist this time). I'm reporting in the 'smoke' problem that I got good advice from this site recently.

However something else now seems to have developed...the turbo seems to have developed a pronounced hissing sound each time it spools up...the sound continues whilst on boost, although there doesn't seem to be any reduction in power.

Any ideas anyone?

A small boost leak will make that sort of hissing sound - the short hose to the throttle body tends to crack underneath.
