Magnecor HT Leads potential group buy

Post by chas_newport » Sun Feb 22, 2004 5:59 pm

I am working with Magnecor at the moment to get a set of there racing leads made upfor my RS2. There is potential for a group buy here if I can sort it. Can anyone point me to detailed information on the ignition system, leads and boots?

Do you know if the car uses HT leads or does it run low tension voltage to a coil pack at each plug?

HT Leads on S2 - number 3 is not meant to look like that

OK next question - are there uprated (beyond RS2) coil packs available for running large amounts of boost?

How do you define "large amounts of boost"? I know of cars running 2.0 bar overboost, with stock coils etc, no problems with spark what so ever.

I think the Swedish orange 625hp S2 has stock coils as well, just different plugs. So maybe the stock system is good enough for most people?

I'm just genuinely (and pleasantly) surprised that 10 year old technology hasn't been improved upon...

I was going to upgrade to Denso or NGK Iridium plugs at the next service but I am beginning to get a distinct "if it ain't broke don't fix it" vibe about this whole thing...

I have transformed the handling with H&R springs, Konis and PowerFlex dampers so I'm looking to repeat this positive experience with upgraded engine componenets (not necessarily more power yet - I'd settle for less lag).

Mihnea's your man for tuning then! He posts on here as S2Tuner and on the S2 Forum as Mihnea.
