RS2 Vs RS4

Post by rharris » Fri Feb 07, 2003 11:28 pm

Just wondering...Which car handles best and Which has the most tunable engine. Those 20 Valve 5 Cylinder Engines are bullet proof.

RS2 Vs RS4

Post by sam3027 » Sun Feb 16, 2003 12:39 am

Either way, it's a good motor! The RS2's feel a lot lighter, and are more like go-karts, but the RS4 is more composed, more controllable on the edge, and it's easier to drive fast. The RS2 is quite easy to reverse through a hedge at an alarming rate (if you know what I mean ). As for tuning, both are easy to get up and around 450-500hp, but beyond there it's just a matter of balls, time and money. I've heard of an RS2 running 650hp, but that was with forged pistons and allsorts of clever heat dissipation gear, not to mention the MOTHER of an intercooler. I know a guy with a 700hp RS4, and that's pretty reliable, just too rapid to drive anything other than flat out! It's a bit rough round the edges, but I kinda like that. Scared me though, cos he's taken the restrictor off and put in a getrag 6 speed straight cut box, which quite happily pissed along at 180mph with 2,000rpm to go! That was round Silverstone before anyone asks! It really did go. Something fun about doing 90 all the way home at only 1,900rpm. Personally I'd take the RS4 for raw tunability, but the RS2 if you're on a budget and just want some thrills!

700 HP RS4 Tell me more.

Is it an all engine 700 Horses or does it run NOS. What's been done the car? Who is the tuner. Did you say the Audi six speed was replaced another tranny?

This surely is the strongest RS4 in the world

I've got a buddy over in Germany who works for Hamann who tune BMW's, but he's a CLEVER bunny, and managed to get a load of custom parts built for his RS4 (the 700hp one). That's all genuine mechanical power, running of 98 RON fuel. It's running hybrid turbo's with T35 compressor housing at about 2 bar, with a whole load of customised base engine parts. It could quite easily get close to 1,000 he says, if he could be bothered to do all of the engineering work involved in getting rid of that much heat without burning the place down! The modifications he has now required many ceramic parts to be added into the exhaust manifold etc. and the gearbox was changed for a getrag 6 speed, with straight cut ratios. It's running a triple plate clutch too, so it's rather heavy, but it is quite reliable if you wanna just drop it and unleash the ponies! It's all a bit rapid though! I believe he's running pretty much the basic block, but aside from that, everything's new I can tell you straight out that he's spent well over £100,000 on it. It's in Stuttgart I believe, certainly that's where he lives. I don't have any pictures, and my contact with him is pretty much he turns up and that's it! But next time I see him I'll get on his back!

Unbelievable as it may sound, it's definately true. The 700hp I can only take as his word, but I've been in a 520hp RS4, and this was certainly more potent. If I can get him to tell me anything, I assure you the information will be passed along! I know he works in conjunction with the chaps at www.exvitermini.com

If he is working with the chaps at exvitermini, he has one badda$$ RS4. That Skyline at exvitermini is awesome.

RS4 Alltheway,

Since you buddy is running larger turbos, did he relocate the turbos up top? As I understand, K04 are the max size unless you start cutting the chassis. There is guy here in the states that's running some large Garrett turbos (GT or T series)up high.

Yeah the turbos are running one up on either side of the main block. The bonnet's been slightly "bulgified" so it all fits. Got some nice louvres in there too, kinda like an Escort RS Cosworth. It's all pretty symmetrical - looks rather swish. That Skyline's up running over 1500hp now, street legal too.

The K16 turbos are larger than the K04's and they don't need to be moved higher up the block (ie MTM600), what size turbos are we talking about guys?
