Fuel filling & trip computer error

I've put these together as I have a feeling they are part of the same problem. The trip computer swears that I'm running out of fuel after I've used about 30 litres, but I have learned to ignore it & fill up when it really panics. However I've never managed to get more than 45 litres in (so there's still about 15 litres in it to start with). The first 30 litres goes in ok, but after that the fuel pump goes into spasm & cuts out every second & it takes about 10 mins to fill it up. I noticed that Audi only take 25 seconds at Le Mans. Any ideas please on curing both faults, apart from buying a R8?
Regards
Phil

hello phil
i am just guessing but is the fuel tank, bent up or warped where the car might have been lifted ???

this might be why the sender thinks there is less fuel in the tank than there is ??
remember this is guesswork !

My RS2 is similar,
Computer range goes from 40 to -E- in about 10 seconds !
If I fill up then I would get about 45 litres in. If I ignore it and drive using the fuel gauge I can get up to 54 litres in if I'm very brave !
By using the computer check (hold the reset button in when you turn on the ignition) you can check out the amount of fuel left (in deci-litres - this is on the S2 central website). I have worked out that the fuel level is falling faster than the fuel used - hence the early -E-.
I also had a problem wit the car starting from low fuel levels (now fixed)- so I need to try again and see how low I can go !.
Its not helped that the fuel tank is a weird shape to allow for the 4wd .
I have seen lots of similar comments from other RS2ers
