Audi Rs2 engine tuning do's and dont's

ok here is an idea most of the rs2 owners i know are highly interested in engine tuning.this is the most common thread/post on all audi forums.why dont we all agree on one list? that would be a cool reference for the all RS2 family
members.
i think companies are also a bit confused about this.some of them says you need bigger turbo for even 350hp some of them goes 400 with the standart turbo etc.Who is right who is wrong?which company is better?reasonable?
with all experiences and some research i am sure we can make the perfect list.

here are the three most common options:

350hp
-you do need only a software/chip

400hp
-bigger turbo
-fuel pressure regulator 4.3 bar
-sport air filter
-software
-sport cats or no cats(which is possible in my country )

450 hp
-bigger turbo
-software
-sport air filter (open)
-racing camshafts
-fuel pressure regulator
-76mm straight pipe exhust with only one straight silencer
-bigger injectors
-(on this application none of the companies talk about s1 intake.they are chancing the intakes over 500hp applications.i am not sure on that.)

me; i am going for 450 hp application.will post all the results.
i am ready to hear all your ideas including part-supplying-company suggestions..
thnx

The problem tends to be on how conservative and safe the tuning companies want to be.

For example, the replacing of the turbo unit for something else before another company does it. All turbos have an optimum flow. If you make it boost higher than the optimum flow rate, it will produce more heat...not usually a problem, but at a certain point, it will be producing a lot of heat for a specific boost, where as the other turbo for a specific boost won't be producing as much heat.

Now this is important when tuning for reliability. Because excess heat causes earlier detonation and premature wear. If the engine management system starts to detect knock as the intake temps rise, the system will start opening the wastegate earlier tapering the boost more... so what you can end up with is a car that can boost to x BAR, and produce say 380HP on the standard turbo, but only for a very short period of time, under optimum circumstances (i.e. 0 degrees C ambient at sea level on 100 octane..)

Other tuners would rather that you get your full 380HP every time, even with heat soak....

thats why these lists don't really work... and thats why there is such a difference in methods.

above 420hp you need to think about changing the RS2 manifold to sport quattro or tubular etc becuase it becomes restrictive then and if push it too hard can be left with the S2 manifolds use to have with exhaust valves 1 & 5 over heating. Which is why porsche uprated the manifold in part.
