That almost puts it in my price bracket! Now there's an idea. It's a real old codger though by the looks of things. Mileage is ok, but it's a state! Interior looks basically ok, but that rear lens just looks like straight mistreatment. Reversed into something probably. Right front tyre's flat too. I know they're only little things that can be fixed, but who shows a car in a state like that? Someone who doesn't care, and do you want to buy a car from someone who never cared about it? Nope.

I'd still have it though, just to have an RS2!!!

Rock on

Just found the explanation of a CAT C write off :-

"Category C

Substantial damage, but repairable by an repairer or enthusiast.

The vehicle can be safely and economically repaired either by the insurer / motor trade or by an enthusiast using cheaper parts and reduced labour costs. The PAV (Pre Accident Value) exceeds £2,000 (£1,000 for motorcycles) and the engineer's assessed repair costs exceed the PAV."

I suppose you have to take into consideration that it's still going to be worth a lot less even if it's restored to it's former glory.

It's also got the wrong steering wheel in it - could have been bumped and had the cheaper one stuck on - Was wood an option on the RS2? And the seats don't have alcantara down the centre - then LHD cars could be different.

I doubt it would be a cheap project car - best to pay a couple grand more for a good one.

LHD cars were different from RHD cars.
In the photo you'll see some of the differences.
- climate control (not available on RHD)
- wood (not available RHD)
- Procon ten steering wheel.(not available RHD)
- heated seats (not available RHD)
- front passenger airbag (not available RHD)
There were also extra colours available for LHD cars.

lots of people change wheels, and not all RS2s had alcantara. Leather was an option too...

If the engine & running gear is sound it could be a cheap car.
I suppose it depends on whether your buying it to make money on it. If thats the case, I doubt you would.

For a cheap track toy though, it would be worth a sniff over.

Just IMO

Looks like early model airbag wheel to me. Later ones had the 3-spoke airbag wheel, earlier (read 1994) models could have a 3-spoke gorgeus wheel with Procon-Ten, or the ugly airbag 4-spoke.

Yes the wheel in the photo is the ugly 4 spoke airbag wheel that was fitted to early 1994 cars.
However for LHD production Procon Ten was available as an option - to get it you specified a sports steering wheel - to see what this wheel looked like refer to the original sales brochure for the RS2.
Some early UK cars did get the ugly 4 spoke steering wheel shown in the photo - later UK cars got the similar to Procon Ten 3 spoke steering wheel fitted with an airbag.
