RS2 wheel refurbishing

I need to refurbish my alloys and am getting conflicting advice. Audi says to sand blast and then paint yet a specialist wheel refurbisher says to not blast but to acid bath then paint and to then put on a clear powder coat. The wheels are corroded in some places. Can any one with experience of a similar problem please assist? Thanks, Tom (Volcano black LHD chipped to 374 HP and happily owned for the last 16 years).
