Hi everyone,
I'm new here although I've been posting on S2Forum for over a year whilst I owned an S2. I've just picked up my RS2 today. I got it for £11,600 on eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... RK:MEWA:IT

There's a few things need fixing but nothing too serious I don't think:

Something is rubbing on the rear brakes & the handbrake doesn't work. It's been standing for a few months & has done hardly any miles since the rear discs, pads & handbrake shoes were replaced. RS2 handbrake failure is quite common isn't it ? It sounds like part of the mechanism may have corroded while it wasn't being driven ?

Aircon doesn't work (no a/c belt fitted).

Factory alarm & immobiliser not working (no 'honk' from alarm & no dash light for immo). There's an aftermarket immo fitted which doesn't appear to work.

Apart from that everything else appears in order. Bodywork looks untouched & there's no signs of the engine being chipped. I haven't really hammered it yet as I don't like the sound of those brakes rubbing. Any suggestions ?

Incidentally I got a Parkers valuation from hpi - over £17k for 74k miles in excellent condition.

Hi Peter

Congratulations on your new purchase. Welcome to the gang :D

One of the delights of the RS2 is the appalling handbrake - not one of the best things Porsche brought to the mix. The motoring press commented on how poor the handbrake was on one of the original press cars. Mine's been stripped and has new shoes but still works when it wants too on a hill.

Probably well worth taking your new car to someone who is familiar with RS2s to get a check up. Try QST in Haywards Heath or the Auto Pool in Iver.

My genuine Porsche handbrakes are just as bad. I have had 7 Porkers in all and they were all pants in that department.

There is a guy called Victor Costa on the Yahoo RS2 list who I think is Portugese and is based in Lisbon. But this may be you.

I'm also trying to replace my undertray at the moment and Audi UK seems to be finding it difficult to find the right one.

Interested to hear how you get on. Managed to unclip the driver's side of the tray on mine a couple of times on some less than level tracks to stable yards. After an adventure with the outer edge ending up dragging along the road, and trying to rectify it on a narrow country lane in the gloom, him indoors had to resort to Dremmelling off part of the tray as the edges rubbed away and it couldn't be clipped back. Not very pretty but solved the problem and the rest of the tray is in tact.

Here's one out of six, I think, from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. RHD, stock standard Polar Silver repainted to the newer RS4's Avus silver
Had it for two years and spent close to US$8,000, and still counting. :audibash: and its still at the  workshop.

Looks very nice.
Is it lowerewd also, or is it just the effect of those 19" rims?
