Hi Fen, my experience was I couldnt/didnt read the signs, I bought a PS with 87k on the clock and a rebuilt turbo amongst loads of other expected items of repair expenditure such as brakes cambelt etc with the turbo rebuild approx. a year previous and after 4k of enjoyment suffered a big end bearing failure which has resulted in a £7k rebuild of the engine which now looks as good as the day it left the factory and is just being run-in, so pleasure is once more. There seemed to be 2 possible reasons for the failure, either a piece of turbo debris or there was excessive wear at the top of the piston stroke suggesting possibly the wrong grade of oil? despite a full service history as the engine required a lot of cleaning prior to being rebuilt to remove the build up of swarf, the interior of the car was just too pristine to suggest excessive driving in the past. There are enough RS2's to pick a good'un from just take your time

[quote="scillyislesI've got probably every magazine/newspaper article written about the RS2 in a big folder including the Performance Car review written by John Barker and the magazine article which shows an RS Blue one taking off over a hump back bridge.[/quote]

You mean this one -

Love that picture. Those early performance car reviews sold a lot of the cars. I seem to remeber a letter to that effect from audi UK

Yes - there was a letter from Audi UK to Performance Car thanking them for doing the reviews and saying that all RS2 had been pre-sold. I've got that magazine entry too!

Some of the more obscure ones I've got are things like the Sunday Times doing a small column article about the Fastest picnic cars - naturally the RS2 featured.

I think it was Car Week in 1994 that had a feature on the RS2 for carting DIY equipment. Photographed full of DIY items from B&Q

I've started to build up a retrospective collection of RS2 articles (courtesy of Ebay) but my collection is nowhere near as extensive as Scillyisles' one!

Unfortunately not, nearly all my articles are from over three years ago and many in fact are the original road tests etc - I used to travel in to work by train and hence buy lots of motoring mags - these days I travel in by car and don't buy hardly any mags so I'd have missed these later articles.
