buying one soon

Post by stef25 » Wed Apr 13, 2005 1:19 pm

After much deliberation im now ready to get an RS2 which will be my first performance car. since i have a company car for every day thrashing, ill be using the RS2 just for fun on the weekends.

ive tracked down a few that are for sale from a guy in switserland who came recommended by the french RS2 club. (im going to their meeting at mas-du-clos on Apr 24th to check some out. anyone going there?)

one 95 model has 80K miles and is described as being very well taken care of. its a dark blue (interesting?) one and looks damn nice.

Image

"documented service history, front break discs recently replaced, original state (technically, in and exterior), all papers available, exhaust test valid till 2006 etc." the tires on the pic appear brand new.

what bothers me is "steering wheel stands somewhat diagonally, but can be re adjusted". this is translated from german with a dictionary ... could it be wheel allignement? crash evidence?

its going for 9K quid. i realise its hard to judge by this little information, nevetheless id like to ask what your impressions are of this car

ill happily send on the link, except its all in swiss german ... thanks for any advise guys

stefan, MichelD, a very well-known Audi enthusiast and S-RS specialist will be there, he can take a look at the car for you and tell you what's wrong with it... however, you'll have to bring the car over to him in Annecy to do so...

Never seen a dark blue RS2 before, interesting and unusual. From the photo it looks in good order, at least on the outside. I am not sure what european prices are like at the moment, but if it where a LHD car for sale in the UK for GB£9k and with no major problems I am sure it would sell quickly.

Going through the threads here and over on the S2forum.com will tell you what to look for but as a start 80k miles is when the cambelt needs changing. My off centre steering wheel was due to pot holes and kerb clipping rather than any crash/accident and it was easily cured by having the wheel alignment looked at .

Do try and drive a few before you buy.

And if you do meet up with Mihnea at mas-du-clos you wont find a better man to tune your new RS2.

Regardng steering wheel slightly off centre, mine's been like that for ages, and proven to be very hard to correct. needs decent 4-wheel alignment.
