Looks just like mine (though I had to pay way more than you!)...don't let the water pipe problem discourage you..... a great car.
I also have the towbar fitted and can definitely confirm that it affects performance, intentionally....I have wiring diagrams and manual pages, unfortunately 1200 miles away, that confirm this...am sure more clued-up owners than I can advise you re this

Thanks for all your help guys, making the process of 'taming the beast' good fun.
My B4 , 1993, only a 2.8 not S/RS, could only lock the rear diff, centre is Torsen, and don't remember any warning lights for it as auto switch off at 15 mph.

Was this the one in Bath that was in Autotrader a couple of months ago?

Congrats on your new purchace and welcome to the joys of RS2 ownership, both the good and the not so good sides of it, but it is never bad.

Familiarise yourself with this website it really is very useful technical resource (inc cluster lights):
http://www.s2central.net/main_frame.html

You may want think about replacing all your coolant hoses as well as your boost hoses:
http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8641
http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7674

The tow bar does reduce boost, not having a tow bar I don't know how to disconect it. sorry.

MPG does get frightening when having fun. I can average between 10mpg and 30mpg per tank, depending how i drive. I don't recommend trying to get 30mpg, a very dull experience.

Re tuning: MRC is one of the better tuning options and you can leave the car 100% stock and get great improvements for about £500 ish. There are other options such as AMD, QST, QR Sport, Chipwizards and so on but I can't really comment on them, I used MRC after originally having a Dialynx remap and found the transformation to my car incredible.

Good luck and enjoy

Tingewick can be fun heading West towards Oxford! You probably kept in the right hand lane to avoid the dip [where the slip road joins after the bridge] at those kind of speeds! Then a case of braking as late as you dare as the roundabout looms large.
What tuning company can people recommned near Milton Keynes?
Hehe, what kind of rhetorical question is that!? AmD worked wonders on a friends 1993 S2 Avant, achieving a quite remarkable 430 lb ft without replacing the turbo. Automotive Developments will certainly be able to give your engine some much needed tender loving care.

See if you can get a boost guage connected to see what boost its putting out, could be a few reasons why its down on power. Boost leak is always a likely candidate, or even a dodgy MFTS (water multi function temperature sensor, the large sensor screwed into the water manifold) try unplugging that and see how it runs. If its a dodgy sensor the ecu lower boost limit.

Its impossible for a K24 turbo from the S2 to produce that much torque.

I know of a 1993 S2 Avant ( silver) from the Maulden (Beds) area that produced that sort of figure BUT it had a hybrid turbo as part of a very comprehensive and expensive Nothelle conversion.

I've heard about the chipped 1.8T engines that produce an easy 240 + bhp with only a KO3 ................

[quote="richslay"]NOOO :(
Picked up my new RS2 from Bath on Thursday, drove to meet a friend in Oxford and to cut a lons gtory short came out of the pub and there were plumes of steam from under the bonnet and a large puddle underneath, two AA men and two garages later found a coolant pipe had split, so £192 bill within the first four hours of ownership... D'oh! Anyhow have now got the car back and seems to be running fine, just a few questions that you guys may know the answer to:

- The car is definately down on power, now it does have a tow bar fitted do people know for sure if having this wired in will alter the performance, at times i get some truly frightening mpg's (5: but that was late night on the Tingewick bypass ;) )
- What tuning company can people recommned near Milton Keynes? at the moment i can't really afford the full remap, but i do want to find out why it isn't pulling quite hard enough.
- Silly things - Is the clock (on the revcounter) back lit and are the two bulbs on the diff lock symbol in the centre console, i only seem to have the back two wheels lighting up.

Thanks for all your help guys, making the process of 'taming the beast' good fun.[/quote

Do consider getting some items replaced before taking it to any tuning company.
Unless u know the following have been done I would
1 new spark plugs
2 new air filter
3 new Divertor valve (Probably the bosch S3 spec)
4 new waste gate frequency valve WGFV
5 oil change 10-50w full synthetic
6 Finally if u are in the market for a remap then MAF clean or replacement and replace the fuel filter.
IMHO if you start to tune an stock car that is below par u run into trouble and u find the bills get bigger.
I should know BTDT if look up my posts.
Just got the car back from the local porsche bodyshop with a bonnet respray and new door trims. I think that is the final part of a year long saga to get the car A1.........maybe

Well perhaps AmDs rolling road helped with the figures! Personally, neither I cannot believe the turbo is original after seeing the dyno torque figure. Power however saw a very low increase, only just making 300 bhp.
