RS2 oil use

At 82k the car is beginning to use a bit of oil. Enough for me to notice. About a litre every couple of months The previous S2 used minimal between 6k changes. I realise all engines vary and at present this can be considered normal.

There are no overt leaks or signs of Xs via exhaust.

I use synta gold and wondered if a change to castrol syn 15-?40 or 50w as recommended by many at this and S2 forum was the way to go ??

My RS2 has now done about 78k and like your previous S2 uses pretty minimal amounts of oil. In fact have not had to top it up at all in last 6mths. I am using the Castrol synthetic, may be worth a try at the next oil change.

Drive the car hard and it does start using oil. I find if I drive "normally" it also doesn't use oil. I am on Shell fully Synthetic. 5w-40

I agree - I used about 0.5l during a track day earlier in the year. However, the guys on the S2 Forum certainly think there is a noticeable difference between brands. Certainly I have minimal oil usage using Castrol RS during "normal" driving

My S2 uses no oil and has 85 000km . The RS2 has 155 000km and It can use about a pint for every 2000km when driven hard. I am using a synthetic oil from Petronas.
