Sound damping under hood.

Went to the track last weekend. Did fast 5 laps but were then pulled off because of oil on track. Had to stop.
Opened bonnet yesterday and found that damping cloth had melted around silver patch. Holes burnt in it as well as diaphragm singed. Scary. Is it because I had to stop while turbo was still red hot. Looked like the unit almost caught alight. Must put more heat shield under bonnet. Anybody had same problem?
