RS2's Reliability

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, been reading from the sidelines. first time post this. Posted in the yahoo RS2 list few times. What's a DV valve? pardon my ignorance, anyone has a part number?
Mine's a '95 silver, 54,000 miles. Changed almost every part, new radiator, shocks, cv joints, hall sender, solenoid valve, water pump, too many more to list , including two new turbocharger and wastegate at 50,000 miles during my two years of ownership.
The car sits in the workshop most of the time. Hardly ever had any chance to enjoy driving it.

Welcome to RS246. Alastair's answered your query re the DV on the other thread. Mine has an after market one fitted - I think it's a Forge one but I'll have to check the invoice.

I've got a sheaf of invoices from the previous owner for my car - I think the car spent a fair amount of time in the garage with him. Including being recovered from the continent after the Hall Sender packed up on a holiday. But then she had done over 121,000 when I bought her 18 months ago - and she's had an interesting life

I sold my sensible Japanese hatchback when I got the RS2. We subsequently had to go out and buy a third car to our mini fleet as I hadn't allowed for the fact that you can't always get parts for a more mature and unusual car on a same day basis. We had a coolant leak problem and then the new radiator fitted turned out to be defective and had to come again. Then we had a loss of boost problem - finally tracked down to a hole in the intercooler.

Mine's down on power at the moment and booked into the garage in 10 days time.

But there's nothing like driving an RS2 when she's on song. So I can forgive the odd unexpected visit to the garage for the privilege of owning and driving such an unusual and amazing car.

Cobstar thanks, I needed that really. . nothing like driving it full blast, but when is it going to be on song? I honestly don't know, fingers crossed

I've always had a soft spot for the RS2. Back in 1994, while living in London, everytime I pass by this Blue RS2 parked off street behind Barkers of Kensington, I would stop to look at it like a boy outside a candy store window. I was sold on one.

Now I've harboured thoughts of selling the car and I'm on the brink of giving up. Its still at the Audi garage. Its like a never ending story...

Needs new lower arm and bushes, new frt brake pads, second lambda probe and I'm already on my third DV in less than 2 years. New N75 hall sender, WGFV, and the list goes on...It's just unbelievable. Its jinxed
