Spare Key

Post by Cobstar » Wed Jul 09, 2003 9:17 am

Hmm - I sort of assumed that the spare key would allow you to drive the car too. But tried mine for the first time yesterday - engine started and there was a continual buzzing noise as I drove away. Discovered the indicators didn't work so went back home and got the other key. Is this normal for the spare key?

Nope its not normal - the only difference between spare key and the normal key is the fact that the spare key does'nt have a little torch in it.

Am I in trouble, I've lost ALL my keys. All I have left is the car and the little black plastic piece for the code on the key...

How the hell do I solve this. Audi sent me to a keyguy, and the keyguy told me to take the door apart and come back with a number on the inside of the lock.........

Here is a good place for anyone who wants to have duplicate keys cut, with the little chip that does the imobiliser, but without the built in torch. They did mine while I waited (5 minutes), copied from an original for £20. I can't remember if you need any paperwork to prove ownership. The best bit is that you don't have to go near an Audi dealership.
