My Trip To MRC

Post by LGK6D » Wed Nov 30, 2011 9:29 pm

I got to Banbury for 8.30 this morning and they started straight into the car. It's a busy place at MRC so if you ever ring them don't be surprised if they don't answer the phone they're busy working on the cars. I guess they get a lot of people calling just to chew the fat. I'm thinking email is the form of communication!

The last service had just been oil and filter, so they carried out a full 20k service. Interestingly it seems that all the prior servicing had missed the fuel filter :bash:

On a more positive note Chris (who did the service) said everything was in good order and that the car was in great condition, good for my peace of mind. I'll certainly use them again when it comes to it and hopefully not before!

Thanks Chris and the guys at MRC :beerchug:

Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Always good to hear there are no big bills looming :D

Didn't ask for a cheeky remap while you were there?? ;)

Haha, I did have a chat with Chris about the maps and I'm sure the up-rate path is a very slippery slope. He said with it being such a nice car he didn't think I should mess around with it too much, which was already on my mind. I think I would have bought a different car as a starting point if that was the case. The rear section of the exhaust will want replacing within the next few years and that seems to be where it all starts. I asked Chris his opinion of what he would do if it was his car about replacing worn out parts with OEM or aftermarket. He said he wouldn't replace the OEM exhaust and would have a stainless system, he did say that the re-map is worth it as it brings the torque down and makes the car more tractable at lower RPM. I asked if it levelled out the kick of the boost and he said it makes a bigger kick and doesn't run quite so rich which all seems like a benefit. He said he wouldn't do anything else to it though.

I was looking at the dyno graphs in reception and they're tuning some of the RS4's and the other 'modern stuff' to massive power outputs. When is enough, enough, lol! I got chatting with another guy who told me of a friend he had that had spend £20k on his RS4 with MRC and then sold it for a newer RS4. Bonkers!

These are the two main issues I have with mine so looks like that might be my best plan of action...I may well drop them an email.

Glad yours flew through, it is a very tidy car
