Water leak

Post by PAULRS2 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 8:59 pm

Just noticed a small amount of water dribbling in to my car from the passenger side of the dashboard , does anyone know where this could be coming from I hope the photo shows where I mean it's dropping into the car where you can see the red paint

Thanks Paul

Have you had a replacement windscreen fitted at some stage - looks like it could be from there.

No mate it's the original screen, someone on another forum has mentioned it could be loose door seals or sunroof drains but I've been told the sunroof drains are fine and the door seals look okay to me aswell

thanks Paul

Yes loose door seals would be my second suggestion - I have recently had this issue on the rear passenger door. You might need to adjust the passenger door as over time the hinges might have sagged.

Thanks mate this could be it as the door has sagged, but would this allow water to get in when it's closed

thanks Paul

Yes - the seals at the top and leading edge of the door rely upon a very tight fit. As the door sags that fit becomes loose and the water gets past the seal. Once water has got past this seal then there is nothing to stop it dripping down into the car. On the leading edge the water would tend to to follow the door frame down towards the area in your photograph
