btw the Audi dealer parts price for this pipe when I had it replaced a couple of years ago was £90 +VAT so at £350 someone is having a laugh.

I've had a lucky day today.

Autodeutsch in Manchester (a brilliant specialist that I'd recommend to anyone based up North) managed to clear the heater matrix that has bunged up with 'sludge'. I reckon this happened when the previous owner had the car SORN and therefore having no fluid running through the system.

They almost gave up and were about to give me the news of 'dashboard out' when the gunk started to move....After loads of high pressure (and lots of patience) the guys there manged to sort it out and I now (7 months on) have heat in the cabin....it's like having a new car. Just need an engine flush now to completely sort it.

Cheers to everyone who offered advice on here.

More weight to the argument of using the beast as frequently as you can.....you shouldn't need an excuse!!

Correction...antifreeze flush.

Would anyone not use G12 antifreeze as that's what I have been advised to use?

Also had an air con test this week. The system is showing no leakage (and is fully gassed) but the air con is not cold.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? He did mention he knew an aircon specialist who could find out exactly what was wrong with it but doesn't seem much point till the spring.

Looks like I'll have to follow Simon 44's advice and check the pipe and condensor

Much appreciated.

Tom
