RS2 won't start followed by Oil Pressure warning light

Post by tonyd » Tue Aug 18, 2009 4:52 am

Vehicle has been unused for a couple of months while I was overseas. Upon return I am finding that vehicle won't start straightaway and oil pressure warning light comes on a few seconds after I stop trying to start it. Any ideas where I should be looking? Prior to today's attempt it did start after a few minutes, but now not starting at all. On previous days everything appears normal after it has started successfully.

The lights normal so no worries there Tony... how olds the fuel? how much juice on the battery? also might be worth pulling the big `motor` fuse and popping it back in a few mins later. Do you have access to vag com to look for any fault codes?
RS2 s yep ive had a few... it started with a Brilliant Black lhd then a Polar Silver and finally an RS Blau.

AlWyn, thanks for suggestions. Am rather embarrassed ... turns out it was immobiliser-related. Following an S2 Forum comment re security I tried locking car with remote and then unlocking ... car then started immediately. I had recharged the flat battery following return from overseas and had probably interrupted the security sequencing. Not sure, though, why it had previously started after a few minutes ...guess that will remain unknown.
