Interior 'climate control' issues
I'm new to the world of RS2s having recently acquired a Polar Silver beast.
A few issues to sort out immediately, one being that I can only get cold air circulating in the car, irrespective of where the temperature dial is turned to (red or blue). Any ideas what the problem could be?
In addition to the temperature problem the fan itself does not function correctly, it only kicks out air when it's turned to full (and even this is not very strong). When the dial is turned to settings I & II the fan does not work at all.
Suffice to say the air con does not work either!
All help appreciated, I know this isn't a big deal but it's just a pain when it gets chilly outside.

aircon not working could be that it is all out of fluids,so you need to have that checked.
im sorry to say that if you are not getting any hot air(you should try it once the engine is hot though),then that means that the heater core radiator may be clogged or shot,and for that to be replaced,the whole dashboard needs to come out. So that will be a costly thing to repair.
Now for the fan,well that can be checked at the same time.could be that the motor needs changing. These are things that happen in old cars unfortunatelly...

Easy one to fix - your fan blower rheostat has died. New one's are £45 or thereabouts and 2nd hand ones pop up on eBay from time to time. You might get one of these for £15 ish.....

OK, thanks, I've got a number for someone breaking an RS2 so I'll see if he has this part still, £45 isn't the end of the world, it's just good to know what to ask for. In terms of the air con I am planning on having this re-gassed (I was quoted £60), to assess if the system had a leak etc. Is thi the right course of action?

you might first consider replacing the aircon pipe from condenser. This is a known weak point and often is responsible for non working systems. Might as well replace the condenser whilst your at it. Hi, I had similar issues with mine - heater control only worked on speed 4 and no cool air. We've replaced various pipes, the one closest to the interior has a valve which can block, we've also replaced the condenser, the pump seems fine so after this we may need to replace the heater matrix which is a dash out job. Hoping that this wont be the case. I've heard that one sign of the matrix being shot is a wet passenger front footwell.
Cost can quickly spiral so the advice here is excellent, as is Roger at Andover Car Service (he looks after my car although I live in Dorset!) or PM Audiman on the s2forum.

Simon, Lloyd, thanks for that, I'll get this checked out just as soon as I've had the new main radiator fitted next week. At the moment she's off the road to save me frying the engine.
Despite this RS2 needing some TLC I think it'll be worth it in the end, can't wait until I've got her running sweet.

Ok, lots of guys seem to have had Air Con problems at some point.... so please help me out. Mine has never worked, took it to an air con specialist in bristol for the dye test, and to be fair it probably didn't need it, as I could have found the hole if I looked hard enough. It is in a rigid metal pipe about an inch diameter, going along with some other pipes out of the engine bay and under the right (drivers) wing. I took the car home, to be booked back in when I can do without the car for longer, as the garage were worried about parts lead time as well as access.
Is this the infamous condenser pipe 8A2 260 712AD as discussed on S2 forum? And the same pipe for which Bristol Audi have just quoted me £350 but they cant guarantee it will fit unless they do the diagnostics? There must be another way.

Thanks for this, I think I might go DIY if I can source the parts. Anyone got a better value supplier than Audi? I reckon a bespoke one might be findable for that money, 350 quid seems a lot for a part that is known to fail.... Waiting on some pm replies over at S2forum too.
The pictures don't load for me on this thread though, and they would be very useful. Any clues??
