The history file with this car is amazing. A credit to it's former owners.

A couple of minor problems to sort then a full detail and I'll get some fresh pictures up in due course.

More importantly, how did it fare at the hands of so many eager motoring journalists?

That was my first worry, but as I said, the history file is amazing. It has invioces itemising bottom end, top end and turbo rebuilds between 110 and 120k (As well as stacks of other invoices over and above services). My mate Rob ( a fellow RS2 owner and mechanic/engineer ) cast an expert eye over the car and aside from a few minor niggly common problems the car is absolutely spot on including the gearbox.

Even Jamie (the last owner) who only owned the car for a relatively short period has not been shy of throwing money at it. (Just prior to me purchasing it he had spent the best part of £600 on the aircon -new pump plus other bits!!)

I've not even driven the car really yet, but even just opening the garage door and seeing the car in there puts a grin on my face from ear to ear!!! :bowdown:

You've read the Top Gear article (it's in the downloads here somewhere) about your car at the Brighton Speed Trials, I suppose?

There's a reprint of the article in the history file as well as a couple of original magazines featuring the car (Audi driver magazine and Performance Car)

The car also came with a rare copy of the original sales brochure with Audi and Porsche logos printed on the cover (reprints only have the Audi logo) and the original owners wallet (also embossed with the Audi and Porsche logos)

It also has the original car audio head unit and autochanger with the car!!

All in all this is the ultimate original RS2 that got us all itching to get our hands on one!!!

Weirdly I actually know Anthony the journalist who wrote the Top Gear feature. When he saw I had one he instantly said what a great time he had with the car then. He was certainly impressed as he still raves on about how good the RS2 is.

Let's just say that I have more than a passing interest in them :wink: , although I haven't actually bid yet so there may be some competition!!

I have actually sourced a back issue specialist, but I thought I'd give the bay a go as well.

Even after 15 months of ownership, I've still not done the full house standing start utilising the drop-the-clutch-as-the-rev-counter-passes-7,000 technique outlined in the Top Gear article, but I can tell you that with a wee bit of judicious clutch slipping it's not far off the text book 0-60 time.

And - Wow!! - it is so good for your soul.

Stuff gets really, really small in the mirror ever so quickly.

I sold a 1/43 scale RS RS2 for 200 quid... wish I still had that but at least I still have a red 1 to look at!

Just found another Ebayer selling a selection of VW Audi car magazines from 1987 to 1998. Emailed him to ask if he had the July 1995 copy featuring my car and if he would be happy to list individually with a B-I-N.

He's just emailed back to say he has it and has listed it.

What a result £2.70 B-I-N with free postage!! :jump:
(Reckons it's in very good condition too. Just have to wait for it to arrive to confirm)

just glad I didn't win the original one!!!! :wink:
