More praise for the RS2

Post by DickyC » Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:21 pm

Over the weekend I had the misfortune to drive a five year old 130,000 mile Saab. My thirteen year old 140,000 mile RS2 is so much better!

The Saab's 3 litre tubo diesel was willing enough but forget any comparison of performance and road holding as I reckon the Saab was a boat when it was new. No, it was the interior and the controls that made such an impression on me. The interior was tired, the gearshift was vague and the column stalks were limp. It was dreadful. The Audi is slicker and sharper on all counts.

Perhaps a common or garden Audi 80 would be better than the newish Saab, but I thought my old bus came out of this informal road test very well. :D

Except maybe fuel consumption. :(

They do last very well but it must be worth remembering what they cost new and what they have had spent on them in their life time!
