History check

Post by Parptoot » Fri Feb 15, 2008 8:40 am

Hello all,
Does anyone know of any history on a laser red RS2 reg number M440 PUX? It is for sale with about 150000 miles on it, this doesn't bother me as long as its been well looked after.
Thanks in advance.

I'm having trouble getting onto the S2forum, I've registered but I get no confirmation e-mail. Has it been up for sale for so long because of the condition or does the mileage put people off?

I've heard from a few people that it is not in very good Nick - But then mine is up for sale so I might be biased!!

Do you think the mileage has taken its toll or has it just been ragged to death?

Mileage isnt the issue its more how well its been looked after that matters
Mines at 250k ish klms with a good service history and no major issues to date... when i was buying i did look at 2 sub 100k milers that were in a real state... you need to rack up some miles looking for the right car for you... remember these are now 14 odd years old... try again to get onto S2 forum and write off a few hours for research... could save you a fortune

Hi That used to be my uncles. He sold it a few months ago to his friend at eporsch, www.eporsch.co.uk click on other cars. The car has been well looked after, my uncle owns his own car cleaning company so it was always cleaned properly and regally and no expense was speared to get the car looking near new condition, there are some bits on the car that need doing but he didn't get round to do them there's is a mark on the drivers door card where its worn (from elbow) the paint is peeling on the wing mirrors and the cd changer need's connecting i cant remember what els but there's no that much.

He spent just under 9 or £10k on that car i think there's recipes for 6K and the rest was spent in cash E.g The bluetooth parrot, new windscreen, Wheel refurb, tyres etc etc
If you speak to Roly at eporsch he knows everything about the car as i said he knows my uncle the last owner and he evan new the owner be-for him.

I Work for my uncle so i'm always with him that was one of 3 car's at that time, when he fist got it he drove it for 3 weeks everyday (as you would with your childhood dream car) then it became a weekend car as he didn't want to use it every day(for 2-3 years i think) and then drove it nearly everyday for about a month just befor he sold it. In the time that he owned it, it was never "Ragged to death" sure we had a few blips here and there but what RS owner doesn't the only time it was ragged was when it went for a rolling road (Roley has the graphs) It come out at 317bhp. He could of spent all that money on tuning the car but he wanted to keep it original.

Thats all from my uncles side i couldn't tell you much about the other owners but i'm sure Roley can help you out. Any questions please feel free to ask as i see my uncle pretty much every day, i think i have a few pic's of the car on my laptop if you would like them i'm pretty sure i have one of the mark on the door card too. hope i was of some help like i said any question just ask.

Thanks for all that information, it's still just a thought at the moment because I need a daily driver really and I don't want to ruin one of these.

I don't think you'd ruin one of these as a daily driver to be honest. In fact there are many owners that have covered well over 150k on Audi RS2/S2 variants as daily drivers and still going strong.

It seems very much a case of how well they're maintained, not how much they've been driven. However, sitting in traffic jams or stop start driving whilst commuting is not going help your fuel consumption!

Mine has been a daily driver for several years. If you are spending time in traffic jams/under 10 mile commutes you will not see 20mpg. But these cars need to be driven to stay at their best.

I currently own a UR quattro and the parts situation is terrible, once it is sold and I have some money back to feed into the kitchen fitting I'll be in the market for a good late 99 S4 or an RS2, but I think the RS2 may be a bit out of range, the only one I've seen is this red one (eporsch) but it seems cheap so I'm a bit wary. Whats' the parts situation like with these? are there lists of bits NLA?

Good idea! I have no idea if there are any parts NLA for the RS2. Well worth a thread in itself?

Yeah i don't think he's advertising it in the right places. My uncle would like it back but hasn't got the money and space to run a RS2, RS4 and his other car's. I would love it but i would have to sell a kidney to get insurance. but then saying that, thats not a bad deal
