Does the WGFV have anything to do with the idle?
No

I suspect your problem has nothing to do with MFTS now that I have learnt so much more !!!!

-Measured all connections at ECU, everything seems to be in order.
-checked that the camshafts were in the right position, they were.
-When the engine was warm and idling we unplugged the temp sensor at the back of cylinder head and simulated it so that the ECU thought that the engine was cold and it got a lot more fuel. The engine started to run very smooth.
-Before the simulation the injection time was 3.4 ms. It should be between 1.5-3 ms. During the smooth running it was 3.8 ms. Sounds good but the emission showed CO=4%, HC 2000 ,which meens that a lot of unburned fuel goes through the engine.

-The bosch diagnostic tool also showed that the ignition timing was -10 at idle. Is this before or after TDC, it's propably before because otherwise it wouldn't run at all?

-How is this possible that you put more fuel in a already rich mixture and you get a smooth running?
(non standard camshafts maybe)

(camshaft markings: EX: Mon5...9258...95H IN: 034AM) are these standard?

Does anybody know what markings there should be on standard RS2 camshafts?

part no. for oxygen sensor is 077-906-265.
the mechanic said that as the failed sensor is sending incorect information to ecu SO the mixture of gas and air is incorrected.

Fuel pressure is okey and filter is changed. Lambda is working like it should. I have received camshaft numbers from a few people and they have another numbers than I do on my ex camshaft, so I'm looking for rs2 camshafts now.

Found the problem. When I checked the camshafts it looked like the marks were towards each but another look and with more knowledge of the markings and were they should be the inlet camshaft was one teeth wrong against the exhaust. Now the car is idling properly.

The previous owner had made a cylinder head overhaul with all new valves and everything. When I bought the car I didn't have time go and take a look at it so I send a friend to buy it. My friend called me and said that it's a nice car but the idle is bad. Well, I thought that it shouldn't be such a big deal because these s and rs cars usually have these problems and the seller also said that it's the lambda, air mass meter or fuel pressure and I thought so too, but I didn't expect that this "audi specialist" in england who had done this overhaul don't know anything about audis.
The ex camshaft was also one teeth wrong. Now when the camshafts are correct the fuel cons. dropped with 3-4 liter/100km:)
Otherwise I'm really happy with the car only thing that have broken is the prop.shaft support bearing and in the same time I changed the cv-joints, they were in bad condition, they had no grease. Front arm bushes has been replaced and front disks had to grinded they were not straight.

I bought the car from mcp-motorsport. I'm not mad at anybody I would have propably bought it anyway but I didn't expect this. The car has gone through a major check due to this and everything seems to be in perfect condition.
