RS2 prices

Is 12k a realistic budget for a good RS2 or is that dog territory? Just considering things atm.

My mate sold his six months ago, right hand drive, under 100 thousand miles with all the right paperwork. The car was as mint as you could get for 12 year motor.
Through the Trader for around £17000

Another mate has bought 2, cheapest was off Ebay for £7000.
Both cars were sound, as far as engine gearbox, ie mechanicals. less than a hundred thousand miles on both cars!
But both cars had a lot of smaller jobs to do on them. ie tender loving care required
Don't forget the small jobs can add up to a tidy sum
As Corey has said your figure is middle of the road.
Many people have said it before, try and learn as much about the car as you can, and try to check the car thoroughly from electric windows to noisy diff and all the bits in between.
Good luck.

p.s. All the cars above were R.S. blue, the only color to have. :)

Thanks - If I went this route, I would'nt be expecting a mint car for that money but as a minimum I hope that sort of cash could get something pretty good and honest, with history. I'm going to read some stuff to see if its worthwhile even bothering with that sort of budget in mind - I'm not totally green with these older 5 pot Audis as I also own a nice 88 MB quattro, so I am conscious that you have to be careful that you do not take on a money pit...(which I do not want!)

Do the RS2s have a problem with NLA parts, like the UR has?

Funny you ask that, I've just been on S2 site, and read that the rubber strips that sit below headlights are NLA.
I know not the end of the world!
Somebody with a bit more knowledge should be along in a mo.
But if not try speaking with Martyn at Vagparts.com they no the score.

Thanks for the reply - I can handle the odd rubber strip, there is no trim for URs about from dealers really - Its a real down side on the URs - even the exhaust manifolds have just gone NLA :(...

Does anyone have the EVO buyers guide online?

I think this is what you are looking for.

Bought my RS2 a couple of months ago 97K miles with Full dealer SH at the middle of the road price. Have budgeted around £2k to get it right. Mechanicals all seem right now after the first £1200 (including new front brakes using OEM parts, new shocks at the front and top mounts, alignment set up, new lower door trims + paint) now to sort the bits of paint that that decided to detach themselves during the last salt removal at the weekend!!! Should account for the rest..............for the car it is it does not feel expensive. Prices seem to have reached their level, bit like Porsche 968 CSs and sshould remain around here for the forseeable I think.
