Hi guys.
My offside wing mirror is not working correctly.
I believe the problem lies behind the glass.
Please can you advise on removal of glass without breakage.
Cheers.

heat up the glass with a hair dryer 1st. Then, you can use some fishline and work your way from one side to the other. Or you could wrap a flatblade screw driver in cloth and GENTELY pry starting in one corner of the mirror and move your way around.
I have used b oth methods before to remove cracked glass. Just make sure the mirror glass is good and hot, this will loosen up the adheisive on the back of the glass.
Good luck

Thanks RS4in germany.
I'll try your method.
I guess not many people have had to remove the glass, as there were no more reply's to my question.
What breaking strain should I use?
cheers

RE: rs2 wing mirror
isn't there a hole under the bottom of the mirror casing where you can insert a thin screwdriver and rotate the mirror mounting to dislocate it from the mirror adjusting mechanism. i seem to recall that's the correct method of removal. the mirror should be mounted on a bayonet type fixing requiring a few degrees of rotation to remove it

Re: RE: rs2 wing mirror
Yes this is correct, there is a white plastic ring that locks on rotation. Insert your thin flat blade screwdriver then get the ring to rotate to unlock and the mirror glass comes free.shineydave wrote:isn't there a hole under the bottom of the mirror casing where you can insert a thin screwdriver and rotate the mirror mounting to dislocate it from the mirror adjusting mechanism. i seem to recall that's the correct method of removal. the mirror should be mounted on a bayonet type fixing requiring a few degrees of rotation to remove it

Thanks for the replys guys.
Have found the holes under mirror. Hope job goes smoothly, I think it's going to be one of those fiddly ones.
Just want to say it's guys like yourselves giving me some good info on how to tackle jobs that keeps me away from the dealerships.
I'll drink to that.
