wetterauer chip

Post by ralphb » Wed Apr 16, 2003 7:33 pm

After having my RS2 for about 3 weeks, I asked another RS2 owner (see RHD register thread - its a long story ) to take it for a spin to check it out. He's had his since new and its completely standard, so he was both hugely impressed (and a little miffed) that mine was substantially better

Apart from the fact that its bloody mint (and his is pretty special too) , he was gobsmakked by the extra torque produced by the wetteraurer chip, the 'powerflow' free flow exhaust and the K&N filter. I was wondering if anyone else had the chip, or had any comments on it (or comparisons).

He was so blown away that we phoned the guy who sold me my car (an IT exec petrolhead) who has now agreed to modify his car in exactly the same way.

The mod provides 245kw power and 470nm torque (sorry we're metric!). However the power does seem to very momentarily come off during the surge - anyone recognise this characteristic - is it the chip?

In my RS4 the first Wetteraurer chip was actually worse. A quick replacement from the dealer got me another one that now gives 211 kw at the wheel and 550 Nm torque. The power delivery is very smooth, no flatspotting at all. Check your fuel filter if it is dirty.
