2015 RS3 20" wheels?

Post by MikeFish » Sun Jul 19, 2015 7:14 pm

Del and co
My wife has ordered a new RS3 due sometime in DecemberDecember (hopefully).
Even though she has paid nearly a grand for the optional black wheels with wider front tyres she doesn't like them and wants ideas on which 20 inch wheels fit.

So what's the options? Anybody tried any 20s on the new 3 yet?

I assume the 19" BBS CH-Rs she has on her S3 won't fit (I don't think they clear the calipers of the old RS3 so assume it will be the same for the new RS3? In which case does anybody want any black 19" CH-Rs?

I tried to convince her to go for Nardo grey with gloss black everything. I took her to Tamworth Audi thinking that was what their demo was, but it was Nardo with Alu optics so looked shite. So she has stuck with her original plan of white with gloss black optics but body coloured wing mirrors. She has the black wheels but they look like they'll be coming straight off again for a set of 20's.

I quite like them. I saw a new shape S3 with the RS6 style wheels earleir and it looked quite nice. I think the C7 20" standard wheels would look awesome on smaller cars like the 3 & 4 but that width and offset is just too agressive for those cars.
I have a feeling she will go to Del again and choose non-audi wheels again hence why I posted in the Prestige Wheels forum. And I'll be there next week to pick my rotors up so can take a look around.

Surely change the order to the standard wheels? Pocket the 1000 pound?

That's what I said, put the extra money to the aftermarket wheels.

You might find the stock wheels more sellable too - same width front and rear, potentially more buyers to retrofit to an S3 etc

Be interesting to see whether you get a pair of wheels with one offset, and a pair wheels with a different offset

(because the front arches are wider, but the rears are not)

The S3 doesn't really fill its arches (same wheels as a TDI S line) so I'd imagine the RS3 wheels cannot possibly be the same offset as the S3 with those bigger arches to fill. I'm sure Autocar quoted a much wider front track on the RS3, but only a 4mm wider rear track, which would make sense going from 7.5 to 8" stock

She always keeps the stock wheels to put back on the car when she is finished with it. And as she normally trades it in at the end of the pcp term there is absolutely no point in paying extra for the wider wheels.
I told her to take the buckets out of her S3 and put in std S3 seats when she gives it back but she reckons they will check to make sure they are still in the car.

Well in that case definitely go for the standard wheels! Otherwise thats a grand down the drain - plus interest if you are having it on PCP

Exactly, its just an extra grand deposit as I see it. I only suggested the wheels as I thought she was going to keep them but she's said now she wants wants to change them straight away so she should change the order, especially as she hasn't even got a build week yet.
