Driver training

Post by anton » Tue Sep 09, 2008 9:45 pm

I enjoy my driving and really enjoy improving my skills so though i'd share this on here as the RS is teaching me a whole new world of driving experiences.

I have organised in conjunction with Roadcraft a driver training on Saturday 18th October there are 4 spaces left, PM me if your interested - I hasten to add i am not affiliated with this company and have merely been involved in organising the day for the benifit of the people going on it.

Roadcraft’s Performance Event Day at Millbrook www.roadcraft-driving.com

Only £300 per participant held at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire, one of the best facilities in Europe!

Participants will be divided up into groups of 4 and will undertake a mixture of activities with a highly qualified instructor using the facilities detailed below;

• High speed bowl: High speed driving, emergency lane change exercise
• Handling circuits: Cornering techniques, Over grip limit handling, trail braking and much more
• Alpine / Hill route: The best place to put together everything to develop a swift – smooth – safe progressive flowing drive on Millbrooks Alpine style 7km one way road
• Mile straight: A great place to look at ABS – Traction control – ESP
• Steering pad: A great place to look steering and braking techniques

The day will end with a Time Trial gymkhana style competition using one of Roadcraft’s track prepared cars, which will allow participants to put into practice all the new techniques learnt during the day followed by a presentation and prize giving. All participants will receive a certificate.

Participants and guests will also have the opportunity to experience high speed demonstration drives, this is your chance to see some of the Performance driving techniques you have learnt throughout the day being used at speed. This will be carried out using the Alpine route and Handling circuit given by one of the Instructors using Roadcraft’s own training car.

Registration 8.30am and the events will run from 9am to 5.30pm. A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. :P

It's a 50quid deposit then the balance two weeks before. Cash, cheque credit and debit cards accepted, think there's a small handling fee on credit cards though.

Lol looks fun.

To be honest whilst racing is fun i prefer my sprint sessions as it lets me focus on techniques and there's less chance of some over enthusiastic muppet taking me out when he gets all over excited. It's not really a case of it being a real or fake day but the opportunity for people to learn how to get the best out of their car.

I own a vx220 and a stylus kit car too and after a couple of years playing around, sprinting and doing autocar tests i though i was ok. I decided rather than make the car lighter/faster i'd go and get instruction and this year i have consisteny smashed my best times normally by more than a few seconds :-)

It should be a great day at a really good proving ground, at the end of it if you've taken instruction well you'll be a safer road driver and a faster track driver :-)
