I am going to the Nurburgring in June.
Can anyone recommend a place to stay?
I am also looking at insurance - Best price so far, £300 for the day.

What sort of hotel do you want?
- Hotel an der Nordschleife - Good and more or less walking distance to Adenau (Bars, restaurants, etc...)
- Am Tiergarten - Probably "the Ring" hotel (Sabine's family own it), but IMHO the bar and restaurant let it down badly.
- Dorint - Never stayed there, but probably best if your partner wants to be pampered whilst you are out lapping. I assume it is the most expensive, and potentally like going abroad and eating Big Macs.
- Rieder - My favorite. Nice, clean, central, but a car/taxi ride to other venues.
Insurance is a must by law. The Polizei are getting wise to brits not having it.

The Dorint is excellent. As Phil says, more expensive, but great restauants and bars, trackside rooms pooling out over the Grand Prix circuit, secure underground parking, internet...... will be staying there again for sure. Oh, and Gabriella behind the bar is an absolute cracker

Re the insurance thing.
It is compulsory (Remember that the ring is a toll road), but check that your current insurance doesn't exclude the ring.
If it doesn't then no need to pay out for track insurance again.
If however you have an accident and happen to be equiped with a crash helmet, driving shoes, etc, then your going to get royally screwed if they find out. Likewise if pictures of your car find their way on to the numerous web sites...
Personally I don't bother, but then I don't try to time myself or drive flat out either.
As for hotels, yep, I'd go back to the Rieder too.

Ringhaus. I'm staying there in July. Good food, beer, atmosphere etc, a workshop to use if you break down/crash. Plus I believe it's the closest one to the main entrance.

Reider gets my vote, stayed there regulaly for a few years now and apart from the short drive in to Town its excellent.
Discount for cash too.

Prices have gone up yet again this year as I found out at the weekend.
8 laps now 135Euros - so beware.
Still great fun though - it's a pitty we couldn't arrange a track day there.
